Internship Opportunities

AIFS Abroad offers a unique global educational experience for interns on this program, with the following academic options available:

The Global Experiences Enrollment Team reviews application materials, which are a combination of relevant work experience, college or university level course work, and an assessment of maturity and readiness for working in a professional setting. After an intern has been accepted, we guarantee an internship placement.

Our team works with interns 1:1 to gain a better understanding of the skills you will bring to your team, talents you want to grow, and expectations you have of your experience. By working individually with each intern, we can assess academic knowledge, career goals, language proficiency, and overall expectations for your time in Dublin, in order to place you in a dynamic work environment.

Once a match is found, all interns will interview by phone or Zoom with their manager before the placement is offered and confirmed. When you arrive in Dublin, Location Coordinators will be there to help you start your internship and support you with on-site check-ins and coaching to make the most of your internship placement.

Global Experiences has 20+ years of history matching talented interns with top tier international companies. Our placement team is dedicated to finding the right employers for our interns in a variety of career fields. Below are some of our top fields for Dublin, but are not limited to these:

  • Accounting
  • Advertising

Public transportation such as buses make it easy to get around the city to shops, cafes, and restaurants. There are trains, trams, and bikes, but walking is also a great way to get around the city.

Weather

Dublin’s weather is mild and stays consistent in temperature with slight fluctuations. You can count on it to be rainy one-third of the year but don’t count the sunshine out. Packing layers and rain gear is a good idea when heading to Dublin.

Time Zones

Dublin is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 8 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time.

Languages

While English is an official language spoken in Dublin, you will also hear Gaeilge, the second official language, spoken in shops and pubs around the city.

Greta Bourke

Location Coordinator, Dublin

BA English Literature and History of Art, Trinity College Dublin

Greta is originally from the West of Ireland. She has lived and worked abroad for most of her life – the US, Australia, the UK, Germany and Chile – and has visited many more. She returned to Dublin in 2016 and now lives by the beach in beautiful Killiney with her 2 children and a dog.

Greta has a portfolio career and a wide range of experiences that she hopes bring a unique perspective to her job at Global Experiences. She has worked as a teacher, the director of an international language school, journalist, editor, consultant and as a creative producer for contemporary dance companies.

Greta is passionate about people, different cultures and education, and strongly believes that traveling helps people find the best in themselves.

Greta joined AIFS this year and is wondering why it took her so long to find such a rewarding job!

In addition to day trips and excursions, a cultural calendar of activities and social events is included in your program fee.
